Yoga and Meditation for Wellness Everyone it seems has some form of discomfort these days, either from illness or stress - or both, since they often are related! The last thing we usually want to do at the end of our day or on the weekend is any kind of exercise! Sadly, that is the worst possible thing to do if you want relief from the aches and pains you experience either from nagging illness or chronic disease. With an individually planned program of movement, you can help yourself to a healthier lifestyle, one that alleviates pain and tension through gentle stretching. You and I will sit together in a peaceful environment where you can tell me in confidence of the health problems that challenge you. I will then design a program just for you of yogic postures that you can do easily at my studio and at home. We will meet for a few weeks to reassess the program, make changes when necessary and alter the movements as your strength develops and as you are able to work more deeply and for longer periods of time. Certainly, there are some chronic conditions that may not be completely eliminated, but you can feel less discomfort because of them through this gentle activity. You will find as you do this work that your body begins to feel stronger and has less pain, and also that your mind becomes quieter. Most of us have a constant static running in the background of our minds. We don't want to let our thoughts be still because all we hear in our heads is chaos. Through this calming work, you will learn to respond to situations in your life with deliberation and reason. Words will not just erupt out of you with no thought behind them. As you practice getting your body under control with less illness, your mind will follow! I can work with you on meditative practices that you can use throughout your day with conscious awareness. In time, as you practice, you will find that you have prayer running as the background in your mind rather than chaos, - and your life will change. This program is not designed to replace or supercede the advice given by your doctor and should not be used in that way. However, it is designed to provide you a safe way to take an active role in your health and well being. I won't lie to you. It is easier to sit and do nothing, but you know that doing nothing will only add to your health problems. In a short time after you begin to move and stretch, - and to feel better, - you will wonder why you waited so long to start!
